Okay I shall talk about Shanghai now.
17/12/09: Thursday- On the first day we had to get up around 5-something am cause our flight was at 8am. Surprisingly I wasn't tired when I got up. So then we went to Terminal 3 and ate some really light breakfast and then went to board the plane.

Okay the plane ride wasn't really eventful, except that we were all so disappointed with the movies. No nice movies at all! And to top it off, it wasn't on demand, so by the time we got over our disappointment, half the movie was gone, so we instead played games. For about 5 hours, oh my god. Okay next. When we reached Pudong Airport in Shanghai, we got a cab and went straight to the hotel, Shanghai JC Mandarin.

It's a really nice hotel. Just that the lift buttons are all metal so when we press it in the morning there is static, and it really hurts. Haha. Then after washing up, we went to eat our first meal in Shanghai! At..

.. Macdonald's. -_- Whatever. Anyway. Then we went to Nanjing (East) Road to get our winter clothes from UNIQLO. I got gloves and Heattech and a long sleeved shirt and some leggings (which I didn't use :p). It was really cold there.

And this is the view of the floor right outside the shopping centre. If you look closely you'll see these little patches of wetness. They are spit. Lovely.

Then we took the MRT back to Nanjing (West) Road and back to this place to eat
Din Tai Fung
♥♥♥♥ Then, in the same building, we went to watch the Shanghai Acrobats.

18/12/09: Friday- I forgot to take picture of our buffet breakfast at the hotel. We went to
Yuyuan Gardens to look at.. Don't know what.

Okay. Then we went to eat at
Xiao Nan Guo.

These two are my favourite dishes. Then we went to the Oriental Pearl Tower.

The view wasn't that nice cause it was rather foggy. After coming down from the tower we went to this exhibition downstairs about the history of Shanghai.

It was really boring and the worst part was that there was no shortcut to get out!! We had to walk through the entire thing and truthfully it wasn't very interesting.

Outside the Oriental Pearl Tower. Okay after that, we took the train and tried to do some shopping at
Xinyang Market but seriously, every shop keeper marks their prices up, and they're rather fierce when you try to haggle. So we didn't buy anything at all. Sucks. But I managed to take a picture of my favourite sign:

Haha isn't it just so hilarious! Then we went to walk along the Bund but they were doing some construction for the World Expo in 2010, so cannot see much.

Then we took the killer train (refer to picture below) back to some place to eat eat eat :D

This entire bowl of red bean and
tang yuan soup costs $4. OMG!
19/12/09: Saturday- The next day we went to walk to the Bund. I had
xiao long baos for breakfast plus other stuff.

While walking along the street, there was this scaffold made of bamboo.

It looked quite unstable. Anyway. We walked into one of those small lanes and when I took this picture below, there was a woman who sort of shouted at me.

But I didn't know she was shouting at me cause I can't really understand. My father said she didn't want me to take picture of the building. Er yeah okay. As we walked out of the lane, there was this group of people who were about to light the firecrackers!

But cause the driver bringing the bride got lost, we didn't get to see -_- Anyway.

So along that road, everyone was drying their clothes in the open, hanging them on strings tied to road signs and lampposts.

And the Chinese government is trying to get them to be civilised. Sorry man, long way to go! Next we walked to the Bund and we saw old buildings which have French influence.

Quite nice. Then we were hungry already so we went to Vienna Cafe to have lunch!

It's a really really really nice cafe, and the food is quite good too! After lunch, we took a cab to see a sort of antique flea market.

OMG I totally wanted to get this camera but obviously cannot because 1. My father didn't really allow us to shop and 2. I don't think I can use it so what's the point? (but mainly reason number 1). Okay walk walk walk some more

and we went to this shopping centre to eat at Crystal Jade. OMG this is my favourite dish from there, fried eel:

20/12/09: Sunday-

Started the day off with the best food again :D Okay then we walked through some park to get to a shopping centre built by Capitaland. And seriously, if you think Singaporeans are desperate, wait till you see this. They are finding a partner by "advertising" themselves on pieces of paper in the park. Seriously.

Anyway. So then we walked to the Capitaland mall (I think it's called Raffles City) and imagine my surprise when I saw that Yuheng set up a tidbit shop in China!!

Hahaha so funny. Okay then we went to eat at this place called Charme restaurant, and this is my favourite dish from there!! It's honey baked bread with ice cream!

Very very nice! Okay. Then my father wanted to visit the museum but there was this long queue (outside in the cold) to get in, so we skipped that and went back to the hotel to laze around. My sister and I went swimming in the heated pool in the hotel. Then we went to eat Macdonald's for dinner again and then headed back to the hotel to sleep. My sister and I watched 2 movies before sleeping hahaha.

21/12/09: Monday- We woke up at about 5am cause our flight was at 8.20am. Breakfast was from 6am to 6.15am and since the breakfast place opened at 6am, they didn't have my
xiao long bao :(

Anyway, so then we went to the airport and then yeah that's about it. This flight was better cause the movies were on demand :) And the selection of movies were much better! I watched
Up and
500 Days of Summer. The food was the same just that we were expecting ice cream but this flight didn't have :( Hahaha. After watching the movies, I played Super Mario but got bored after awhile. My sister found this game called Battleship and so we played that for the last half hour of our flight. It was really fun. I wish we had found that game earlier so we could have played more! Super Mario is fun but it's really difficult cause the controller is smaller than what I'm used to. Haha. Okay that's all :)
